This body of work could be called "intimate landscapes". It is a visual exploration of a subject, in this case, trees. It explores trees to present some of their beauty and uniqueness to the viewer in a way that communicates a feeling or effects a state of mind. I chose trees because of their structure, their color and the sense that each has a spirit. For instance, I wanted to capture the complicated patterns of tree branches against the sky, and make the most of the palette that this subject offers. At the same time that it is complicated, I attempt to avoid excess information. The viewer's eye is lead through the branches with just enough detail to identify the particular tree. In a way, it's like a portrait. For years I painted portraits and that connection with the individual subject has influenced my approach to landscape.

Dancingfish Press (TM) was created to provide a voice for artists. The owner brings a quarter-century of graphic design into the field of book publishing ... experience that has nurtured a sensitivity to the visions of others – to see through their eyes, their souls. An always rich and sometimes highly intense collaboration assures that they are presented to the world as they wish to be seen.

The Poetry Of Light is a fine art photo gallery with works by Janet Forsythe. I love nature photos, especially black and white photography and monochromatic photos. Some of my photos are digitally enhanced to bring out the artistic quality of the photographs.

The WCAC was founded in 1981 and, since the late ‘80’s, has made its home in the Jones House Community Center in the heart of downtown Boone. Our mission is stated above, however, we often use the slogan “Making the Arts a Presence in Our Community” to keep us focused toward that common goal. We are a diverse and growing organization which is heavily involved in economic development and cultural tourism planning in our community as well as in presenting diverse programming throughout Watauga County. We are strong believers in the concept that, in helping the ARTS to thrive in Watauga County, we are also helping WATAUGA COUNTY to thrive.

I discovered at an early age that I had the ability to express myself
through drawing and painting. As a young adult I was forever enrolling in art classes. But I was unfocussed , distracted, and not taking my art seriously. From my native Detroit, I moved to San Francisco, to New Orleans, to Houston, to Honolulu, and then back again to San Francisco.

After nearly 15 years, I realized there was no way I could fully enjoy life if I kept trying to stifle my imagination, so I bought a few supplies and began to paint again... I was happier, life was inviting, colors were vivid... I had finally given myself permission to *play* again! I kept playing for the next several years and in early 2004, I began to work with different mediums because of their easy portability, (india ink, color pencils, and paper). I still thoroughly enjoy painting on canvas, however, the majority of my studio time is spent on small scale, mixed media illustrations such as the ones featured in my first published children's book (Westie The Dog). Affectionately refered to as "Mini Kini's", these miniature artworks are virtual snapshots of my inner world ~ providing glimpses of the world through my eyes.

Hello from North Carolina. I'm a realist painter and my subject matter is often a landscape or automotive fine art. I've been painting since I was eight and that's when I began walking the landscape on my grandparents farm. That's why I enjoy painting landscapes so much. A landscape can tell you much more than simply the time of day.
