I feel that when you are accustomed to seeing something in the same way day after day you seem to forget the beauty that is held within it. I feel as though I have the opportunity to take someone into a place they have seen before and give them a different perspective. I would like people to feel as if they could be part of another world. To see beauty and simplicity, within that complexity.

I knew I had to pursue fine art when I realized I couldn’t stop painting. I don’t know if I’m an artist, that’s for others to say. I do know I am a painter and I strive to be a good one. I prefer watercolor because it is a friendly medium for the traveling artist. It’s light weight, fast drying, and lends itself to capturing direct, honest impressions. It is my hope to take the medium of watercolor well beyond its traditional limits.

I think that my biggest fault, as far as my art is concerned, is my demand for detail. The quest for "photo-real" renderings is something that is buried deep within me. I cannot be satisfied unless the finished product is as close to a reproduction of the original photo as humanly possible. It is this desire for realism that keeps me coming back again and again, looking for that one "new trick" that will bring me closer to perfection.

My love for painting on clothing began in the mid Eighties in Junior High School. We were given the general sheet of paper or poster board to work on, yet I preferred working on denim jackets and t-shirts. I did not want to create art pieces on paper that would end up being filed away in a school storage room drawer once completed (or worse yet..the trash can due to limited space availability). I wanted my art to live out loud in the world and by creating functional art I believe that I succeeded.

The challenge of experimentation with the fluidity and liquidity of the watercolor media as well as its transparency and luminescence has made this my choice for my personal impressions of the world around me and within me. My subject matter is as varied as my painting style, sometimes I attempt to paint what I see and other times I attempt to paint about how I feel about what I am seeing. The best times in my studio are spent just playing with different techniques and media. My subjects include landscapes, buildings, florals and recently I have expanded my paintings with experimentation using abstract shapes , pouring colors and imprinting objects as well as using solar images on paper. I also use collage to add expression and dimension to my art work. Oriental papers, hand made papers and objects of nature can be an important element in my work. Making art should be fun, playful and full of happiness for the artist. I create because I was created and if others enjoy what I do artistically that is just a bonus.

I hope you will enjoy rambling through my web site as much as I enjoyed the process of painting the scenes that are on these pages . Gardening is also one of my fun activities in the Spring. My flower garden occupies every morning that the weather is agreeable and also provides me with subject matter for my painting.

I love painting!!! I paint in acrylics, watercolor and oils. My realistic style of painting is influenced by my love of nature. I am a native Texan, residing in Coldspring, on the edge of the Sam Houston National Forest, so natural settings and beautiful wildflowers find their way into many of my paintings. In the past, I've been privileged to paint on location in peaceful mountain settings, the relaxing west and east coast, the beautifully scenic northwest and the rolling farmlands in central California. Now I am soaking up the ever present beauty of deep east Texas and refreshing my artistic approach to nature. This is the most beautiful place I've ever been. It is truly an artists delight!

My journey began as a young teen simply wanting to learn to draw. I remember the at-home study course advertised on TV that I believe is still being aired today. I was never able to take that advertised course but in time began teaching myself through the use of books from the library to later purchasing books as I could afford them. My collection today exceeds 460 forms of instructional material from books to DVDs…..and still growing.

Marshall White is truly a born artist with an exceptional ability to see nature in all it's uniqueness, and has the God-given talent for putting his vision on canvas. When viewing Marshall's amazing body of work, one begins to realize how extensive his creative gift is. From his stunning florals, to his authentic seascapes, and particularly his skill in depicting the Hawaiian green sea turtle, his range seems boundless. Marshall's paintings and prints of Hawaii are wonderfully detailed and popular with local art buyers and collectors who visit the islands. His sought-after art has been published on the cover of magazines, books, and in local island tourists guides.
