I have always wanted to paint and have drawn and doodled, all of my life. I started out doing oils in the 80's. After developing an allergy to the oils, I started doing pencils, and pastels, but I always loved watercolor. Every time I bought a book, it was watercolor, and I didn't even realize it until one of my friends pointed that out to me, and told me I needed to start painting with water color.

Barbara's interest in painting started in the early 1980’s when she moved to Northern Virginia. She began her artistic career by joining the National Tole and Decorative Art Society. During her three years in the Society, she became their Virginia Representative and enjoyed considerable success in distributing her work commercially and in craft shows. Watercolor became Barbara’s dominate artistic outlet in 1989. Although largely self taught, she has studied with local Virgina artist, Lassie Corbet, and has taken several workshops with nationally recognized artists, Tim Clark, Stephen Quiller, Janet Walsh and Skip Lawrence.

For me the wonderful medium of watercolor has opened a door into the most fulfilling lifestyle imaginable. I spend my time with simple, spontaneous images, tweaking color and perfecting form. Obviously the joy that I experience is transferred to the images as I am often told that my paintings make people happy. My business was born with the help of family and friends and continues to be nurtured by them, for which I am very grateful. Hopefully you will receive the same joy that thousands of others have.

Soon Y. Warren was born in South Korea. She immigrated to the United States in 1987. Soon's favorite subjects are those found in nature: people, an animal, trees, a tangerine, pear, oriental poppy, iris or something of intrigue at the moment. Flowers from her gardens often become models for paintings.

In selecting a subject to paint, the artist is guided by her sense of color, light and composition. She often paints directly from the subject, capturing the rhythm, patterns, and movement created by the lighting situation. Each painting is approached as a new experience and a challenge. The artist delights in sharing her sense of joy and discovery with her viewers.

I have been a watercolor artist for 20 years. Watercolor is a medium that is so spontaneous that it always creates interesting results. My interest in painting started with boats because my father worked as a ship builder in Chicago and often took me to where he worked at the harbors of Lake Michigan. Later, as I traveled more frequently I also became interested in landscapes and cityscapes.
