Karalus, Karl E.
Karl Karalus worked as an engineer for the Minneapolis, St.Paul and Sault Ste. Marie Railroad for 23 years. But painting wildlife was what he loved best. In 1971 he resigned from the railroad, moved his family to Florida and began to paint full time. Since then he has made his living painting the birds he loves, becoming one of the country's foremost wildlife artists. He has illustrated eight books and co-authored three. He is perhaps best known for Owls of North America (Doubleday, 1974 ) and Wading Birds of North America (Doubleday, 1981)
